News And Alerts

HyperionX has separate economic-calendar, indicator-warning, email, and Discord features. Configuring one does not automatically enable the others.

Open Economic News​

  1. Open a chart.
  2. Select Economic News on the chart toolbar.
  3. Wait for the calendar to load or select Refresh.

HyperionX keeps one Economic News window per chart and brings the existing window forward if it is already open.

The table displays:

  • event time;
  • currency;
  • impact;
  • event name;
  • forecast;
  • previous value.

Event times are converted to the Windows computer's local timezone. The footer identifies the display as local time.

Filter And Save The Calendar​

Use the time selector to choose:

  • Next 24 hours;
  • Today;
  • This week;
  • All loaded.

The filter panel also supports:

  • text search;
  • currency selection with all/none controls;
  • High, Medium, Low, and Other impact levels;
  • Reset;
  • Save.

Save stores the current news-window filters locally for later windows. It does not export or synchronize them to another computer.

Calendar Source And Freshness​

The calendar uses a third-party Fair Economy Media weekly feed. HyperionX shares a local cache across calendar windows, normally uses a 12-hour refresh interval, rate-limits repeated requests, and can show cached data when a refresh fails.

Economic-calendar limitations

Calendar events can be delayed, revised, missing, or unavailable. Tentative or unparseable events may not be displayed. Refreshing the window is not proof that a new remote copy was downloaded. Confirm critical events with an authoritative source before trading.

The calendar is informational and is not an order trigger, market-data feed, or trading signal.

Add The NewsEcon Indicator​

NewsEcon places economic-event information and optional local warnings on a chart.

  1. Right-click the chart and select Indicators.
  2. Add NewsEcon.
  3. Configure its display period, maximum events, currency/impact filters, and refresh interval.
  4. Configure warning settings only if local alerts are required.
  5. Apply the indicator and verify its output on the intended chart.

NewsEcon settings include:

  • event period and maximum item count;
  • US-only and impact filters;
  • refresh interval from 1 to 24 hours;
  • impact levels eligible for a warning;
  • warning lead time from 0 to 240 minutes;
  • how long an event remains displayed after its time;
  • optional 24-hour time display;
  • optional WAV sound file;
  • chart colors and visual options.

Current defaults show the next 24 hours, up to 10 items, US events only, and High/Medium impact events. Local warnings default to High impact with a 15-minute lead; no sound file is selected by default.

NewsEcon warnings are local indicator behavior. They do not automatically send SMTP email or Discord messages.

Configure SMTP Email​

  1. Select Tools > Options > General > Alert Services.
  2. Open the Email tab.
  3. Enter the SMTP host, port, username, and password.
  4. Enter Test Email To.
  5. Use the send/test control.
  6. Confirm that the HyperionX test message arrives.
  7. Select OK to save the options.

An SMTP configuration provides a delivery service to features that explicitly use it. It does not subscribe every indicator, strategy, or calendar event to email.

If the test fails, verify the provider's SMTP host, port, TLS/authentication requirements, application-password policy, and account restrictions. Do not weaken the email account's security policy merely to make the test pass.

Rion Discord Alerts​

The Rion Discord tab under Tools > Options > General > Alert Services is currently restricted to an Admin entitlement. Authorized users can configure:

  • enabled state;
  • bot token;
  • channel ID;
  • Send Test.

On a chart:

  • For a normal, non-admin account, the Discord button opens the Rion community Discord link.
  • For an Admin account, the button can enable or disable official local Discord alert delivery after a bot token and channel ID are configured.

Discord delivery uses alert signals emitted by supported/configured custom indicators. Enabling the service does not cause every chart plot or calendar event to emit a message.

Protect Alert Credentials​

SMTP passwords and Discord bot tokens are secrets. HyperionX protects supported secret values locally for the signed-in Windows user, but local protection does not defend against a compromised Windows session.

Never include these values in:

  • screenshots or screen recordings;
  • chart images;
  • exported logs;
  • Code Lab source;
  • Rion prompts;
  • public support messages or source control.

Use a dedicated bot/service account with minimum permissions. If a secret is exposed, rotate it at the service provider; hiding or deleting the message is not sufficient.

Alert Reliability Checklist​

Before relying on an alert during a live session:

  1. Confirm the computer's clock and Windows timezone.
  2. Refresh the calendar and read its status/freshness text.
  3. Verify NewsEcon on the intended chart and timeframe.
  4. Confirm the configured impact and currency filters.
  5. Test the WAV file locally if sound is required.
  6. Send an SMTP or entitled Discord test.
  7. Keep a second authoritative event source and independent risk controls.

Alerts are best-effort notifications. They do not replace protective orders, provider-side risk controls, or active supervision.

Troubleshooting​

The Calendar Is Empty​

  1. Select Reset to remove restrictive filters.
  2. Choose All loaded.
  3. Select all currencies and impact levels.
  4. Select Refresh once and read the status message.
  5. Check the computer's internet access and clock.
  6. Inspect Log and follow Support And Diagnostics.

Event Times Look Wrong​

The calendar uses Windows local time. Correct the Windows timezone and clock, reopen the news window, and verify against the source. The application timezone preference does not override this calendar conversion in the current release.

A Test Works But No Real Alert Arrives​

A delivery test validates credentials and destination, not signal generation. Confirm that the intended indicator or feature explicitly emits that alert type, is enabled, and remains active on the expected chart.
